Tyler Herro wins 2025 NBA 3-point contest at All-Star weekend
Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat has won the 2025 3-point contest Saturday during NBA All-Star weekend. He scored 24 points in the final round to beat out Buddy Hield and Darius Garland. The NBA 3-point contest starts with eight players competing against each other in the first round with the top three advancing for one more round. Herro finished with 19 points in the first round to rank last among the three players who advanced.Hield led all players with 31 in the first round, tying teammate Stephen Curry for the most points ever in any 3-point contest round. However, he would come up just one point shy of Herro in the following round.
NFL overturns Joe Mixon fine for criticizing officials in wake of Texans-Chiefs
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon won his appeal of the $25,000 fine he received from the NFL for his comments after the Kansas City Chiefs playoff game. NFL hearing officer Chris Palmer made the ruling as he determined Mixon did not criticize the officials after the Texans’ loss to the Chiefs. “During the appeal hearing, you stated what you meant by your statements referring to the officials,” Palmer wrote in his letter to Mixon. “As you know, statements can be interpreted differently by every individual and it seems like you clearly understand the weight and detriment of public criticism towards officials can be, given how your platform is as a player, which I appreciate. Doug Gottlieb claps back at jab from LeBron James over record at Wisconsin-Green Bay
LeBron James had some free time this week during the NBA All-Star break, and he used some of it to take aim at Doug Gottlieb on social media. The Los Angeles Lakers star quoted a post Monday morning that noted how Wisconsin-Green Bay, for which Gottlieb is a first-year coach, hadn’t won a game in three months. Gottlieb, who is also a radio host for FOX Sports, responded as he called into a show on the netowkr Monday to address the jab from James. He accused the 21-time All-Star of “punching down” by criticizing him and his team.
Georgia baseball player seeking additional eligibility, sues NCAA
Georgia baseball player Dylan Goldstein filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the NCAA, seeking an additional year of eligibility and arguing his year at junior college should not count toward his eligibility. Goldstein is seeking a preliminary injunction and a hearing so he can return to playing for Georgia this weekend. Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, the 40-page complaint argues the NCAA has, “breached its obligations to the third-party beneficiaries by seeking to enforce unlawful, anticompetitive Bylaws which interfere with the rights of athletes and Division I institutions in the labor market.”
Joel Klatt mocks Mason Graham to New York Jets at No. 7 overall
Two defensive prospects appear to stand out above the rest in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. One of them is Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham, making a name for himself during the Wolverines’ national championship run. Even as the program took a step back this past season, Graham flashed and caught the eyes of talent evaluators. Going inside the top 10 appears likely for Graham and FOX’s Joel Klatt has the New York Jets selecting him at No. 7 overall. The praise could not be higher from Klatt. Both the skills he possesses and then watching them translate on film, it’s nothing but positive marks on Graham.
